    idyasagar Institute of Health, named after the 19 th century legendary, pioneering social reformer, activist, and dedicated to the cause of upliftment of women, Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, has committed itself, since its inception, to its motto of Siksha, Swasthya and Progress by ensuring quality education and rendering health services to the students and community as a whole. The college started functioning from 19 th Dec’2002 with the undergraduate courses in Medical Laboratory Technology and Physiotherapy (BPT). Later on, post graduate courses in Nutrition and Dietetics (2006-07) and Physiotherapy (MPT) (2008-09) and undergraduate course in Nutrition (H) (2008-09) were introduced.The Institute has been set up under the auspices of Centre for Advancement of Higher Education, Midnapore and is managed by the Board of Governors of the Society. Its campus spreads over an area of 25.20 acres at Rangamati near Midnapore Railway Station of S.E. Railway. It is well connected by railways and roadways to all metropolitan areas of the State.

The Institute at present has two wings : (i) Allied Medical & Paramedical College (ii) Hospital. The Institute has well-furnished spacious classrooms adorned with audio-visual aids. Laboratories are also well-equipped. The Anatomy Laboratory has an extensive variety of anatomical models, charts and viscera of different organs for living demonstration. The Physiology, Bio-chemistry and Microbiology Laboratory have almost all instruments and appliances. Every year Laboratory facility is being augmented. A modern Nutrition and Dietetics Laboratory has been set up. The Physiotherapy Clinic has both electrotherapy and exercise therapy departments. OPD clinics are held and BPL patients are treated free of cost. The Computer laboratory is well equipped. The Library of the Institute is rich with books and other materials. The internet facility accentuates learning outcomes. The Institute can boast of a band of young, energetic and dedicated Full Time Faculty Members who impart instructions to the best of their abilities. Since 2008, 36 PASS OUT STUDENTS HAVE QUALIFIED FOR UGC NET (LS&JRF), 21 are working as SACT Teacher in colleges and 105 are serving as asst. teachers through WBSSC. 100% BMLT and BPT pass outs are working in govt., semi govt and private sectors. More than 30% of M.Sc. Pass outs are working in different hospitals as Dietitian. The Institute at present houses a 32 bedded Hospital, with Swasthasathi B grade, Administrative as well as Teaching Blocks, Residential Quarters, Guest House, etc.The special features of this Hospital are highlighted below :

1) The OPD remains open all days a week including Sunday. Renowned doctors sit at the departments of General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Paediatrics Gynaecology, Dental, Eye, and Physiotherapy. 2) All sorts of pathological tests are done with utmost care and accuracy. 3) Medical instrument-based diagnostic tests like X-ray, USG, ECG, Ecogardiography and PFT are performed regularly. 4) The Institute has the proud privilege of having modern Dialysis Unit – Five USA Baxter machines are at work on routine as well as emergency Another Gambro Dialyser Machine has been procured. 5) Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU) has been introduced again. 6) Chemo – therapy for Cancer patients is done. 7) Though outdoor Eye Unit has been functioning from the inception, recently this department has been overhauled. Micro-surgery Unit has started. 8) The Physiotherapy clinic manned by adequately qualified physiotherapists has been running almost every day for indoor and outdoor patients. 9) Day & night Ambulance Service is available for transport of patients. Our organisation also offers Ambulance service at block level health centres for the sake of the rural people.

It organizes general health check-up camps, bold sugar detection cams, heart heck-up camps, free eye-operation cams etc. alone or in collaboration with different Non-Government and Voluntary Organisation. Medical Teams are alsosent in different tournaments, conferences and mass gatherings.
