The Preamble :

VIDYASAGAR which means an ocean of learning is an honorific of Iswarchandra Bandyopadhyay who was a great educationist and social reformer in the 19th Century. Born of poor parents in a tiny village of this district, he rose to eminence by dint of scholasticity and tenacity, tolerance and perseverance. He was a man of compassion and generosity too. He rendered selfless service to the suffering humanity throughout his life. He was a pioneer in the movement for emancipation of women. To uphold these two lofty ideals of education and service of which Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar was the proponent, this institute has come into existence.

The Location and The Management :

Vidyasagar Institute of Health (VIH) which is unique in its character is a growing institution in the municipal area of the Midnapore Town, which not only offers different education and training in different paramedical courses but also provides quality medicare service, its campus spreads over an area of 25.20 acres at Rangamati near Midnapore Railway Station of S.E Railway. It is well connected by railways and roadways to all metropolitan areas of the state. The institute houses a 25 bedded Hospital, Administrative as well as Teaching Blocks, Students’ Hostel, Residential Quarters, Guest House, etc
The institute has been set up under the auspices of centre for advancement of higher education, Midnapore and is managed by the Board of Governors.

About The Parent Society :

Centre for advancement of higher education, Midnapore is a non-prokt making organization under the West Bengal society Registration Act, 1961. The primary objective of the society is to promote the cause of higher learning in the kelds of Health and Hygiene, Engineering, Law, Management, Social Work, etc. In order to fulkl the above objective, the Society set up a 25 bedded Modern Hospital with all infrastructural facilities and introduced Para-Medical Courses in the spheres of X-ray and ECG Technology, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology , etc from the year 2002. It intends to expand the hospital into 50 beds in immediate future and start
B.D.S and Nursing Training Courses. Thus the institute at present has two wings: (i) Paramedical College & (ii) Hospital. The college started functioning from 19th December, 2002 with undergraduate courses in medical laboratory technology and physiotherapy. Later on, post graduate courses in Nutrition and Dietetics (2006-07 session) and Physiotherapy (2008-09) were introduced.
Throughout the year student are encouraged to take part in different indoor and outdoor games. Students are also enthused to participate in different types of cultural activities. Every year annual games and sports competition and cultural competition are conducted which date tremendous response from the descends. On the closing day of the Foundation Anniversary Programs, prizes are distributed.
